I was doing a little self-check this week - overall, what are the feelings and attitude that have dominated my thoughts?
'Overwhelm' was a big one. My commitments and activities have tripled this year - with taking on the role of President of the Chamber of Women in Business, the position as Manager of the Network and Short Courses at the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, and launching my biggest project and service ever at Inner Compass - the Mastermind Retreat - Women's Leadership Program.
It's true I have grown as a person, morphed into a more mature, wise version of me, but sheesh! It can be tough going.
So with overwhelm being my dominant vibraito, wat can I expect? More of the same of course. Like vibration attracts like vibration.
So how to fix this?
Fill up my good vibe account. Good-feeling vibes are a lot more powerful than negative ones, so if you top up your account by experiencing an abundance of good vibes, then this will tide you over if you get slip on an icy patch.
Here's how to fill up your good vibe account:
1. Go outside, look up at the sky, and breathe in the wonderment that is the natural world and remember that there is a world - an enormous gorgeous one - beyond your computer screen.
2. Play. Your pick of fun stuff - skiing, surfing, a good novel, backgammon, horsebackriding, a bit of 'sexy' time...
3. Permission to 'quit'. Whether permanently or temporarily, give yourself permission to 'quit' the things that are really getting up your nose. This will give you a 'time out' and fill up your self-empowerment cup.
4. Fantasize. If your dominant vibe is not of the feel-good variety, then you are focused on what you don't want, not what you do. So fantasize about what you do want - good vibes follow, like a wilting plant springs up after water.
5. Diarize. This is the more powerful form of fantasizing - the commitment to words gives it more oomph and momentum.
When all else fails, take a nap, slouch on the couch, and generally slob it up a little while. This indulgence will top up those me-time feel-good vibes in a flash.
