World peace? Abundance and prosperity? Vibrant health? Yes, all those things are excellent and good. But popping those into reality is a little like giving you a fish rather than teaching you how to bait a hook and cast the line.
The best gift ever is acknowledging your capacity and ability as a powerful creator, owning 100% of your experience, and living your life beyond wildest expectations.
Specifically, the best gift ever at the nexus of all this is...how you talk to yourself.
Your thoughts and hence your feelings point your manifestation ship in a particular direction - either into peaceful beautiful waters, or into a dark and desperate storm.
Leave the desperate behind, and go the happy, blue, clear stuff.
How do you do that? One of the questions my coach asked me today about a series of unhelpful thoughts was, "Would you say that to your daughter?" I don't have a daughter, but if I did, there is no way in Buddha's green land I would ever lay those kind of heavy thoughts on her.
What thoughts are you smacking yourself with that you wouldn't ever in a thousand years serve to your imaginary (or real) child or loved one?
Here were some of mine:
- I should have known better.
- I should have done my homework.
- I am not cut out for this.
- I've failed.
- I'm a disappointment.
Would you say any of these to a loved one?
Hell no! And you would be mortified to hear them speak with such despair.
Are any of these true?
Actually, no.
- How could I have known better - I didn't have the experience yet! I can only learn from mistakes.
- Homework? I did the best with what I knew at the time.
- I am absolutely cut out for this, if I wasn't I would have given up long ago.
- There is no failure - only growth and learning.
- I'm not a disappointment - I am blessing and I am loved.
So don't treat yourself with such violence! Be gentle and loving, and steer your thoughts in a more positive direction.
Loving yourself and being gentle with yourself is the best gift you could ever give - to anyone. The Universe only gives back what you give out, so if you are giving love (and it starts with loving you), then that is what flows. No exceptions.
With love and appreciation,
