Do you see it in yourself yet?

“Have you emailed Roger Federer yet about being his coach?” That was my hubby's question as we watched the Fed Express waiver at Wimbledon. He's been without a coach for years now. And he needs one.

My response was, “Who - me? Coach the greatest tennis player of all time? The guy who makes squillions? Give me a break. Why would he want to coach with me?”

Hubby scowled and said, “If you don't see it in yourself how do you expect him to?”

Ouch. Darn it – I hate it when my honey feeds me my own words of advice.

But he's right.

If I don't feel and think and believe I am worthy of coaching Federer (or any marvelously famous/wealthy/intelligent/accomplished demi-god) then there is no way I ever will.

It's not like Fed is going to say, 'hey you seem like nice person, I'll give you a chance'.

No way, José!

Federer – or any of our clients – choose us because we are confident, because we know in our bones that our services or products will make a lasting difference, because we are sincere, genuine, and earnest.

People don't buy from us when we hope they like us, or if we wonder if we are up to the job or good enough.

If I want to work with the best and be the best coach in the world, then I don't wait to prove that I am by hoping someone of status and reputation will hire me; I need to be the best coach in my heart and soul first.

I need to see myself as worthy, deserving, and capable now. I need to feel Fed-ready now!

And like Mohammad Ali, I need to sing and shout from the rafters, “I am the best – yeah!”

So what stops us from dancing around in silk boxers punching the air (metaphorically)?

We haven't spent the time and energy envisioning grand designs. We get too stuck in making ends meet that we forget to dream. And dream big.

In fact, I declare henceforth that all sole-preneurs must incorporate a Dream Big appointment for themselves each and every day, followed by some shadow boxing of “I Am The Best”.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.

Yeah, baby!

And Fed? It's on like donkey kong.

  1. Just saw this on Roger Federer's facebook page - he needs some training as a law of attraction coach that's for sure!
