Put Your A** On The Line

As I sat nervously waiting for my first radio interview about the fun run, Branson's tip about putting your a** on the line bubbled up. He meant that if you care that deeply about something, let go of your small ego fears of being judged or rejected, and step up and get your message out.

I always tell my clients if they face a difficult public speaking engagement to remember just that - it's not about you, it's about your message.

And my message for the fun run was: there is life after cancer, as my own story attests, that a small group of concerned citizens can make things happen and make a difference, that you don't fight cancer but surrender instead to the journey to wellness, that Australian researchers need our financial support to find better treatments and preventative measures to translate cancer into 'no big deal' status.

This was not about how I sounded on radio. This was much more important than that.

And here's the thing:  we've all got a story to tell, a message to give, a project to deliver, a mission to achieve that makes a difference.

And that's worth putting our a**, and ego, on the line.

To your butt, hanging out on the line,

Zoe
