Anakin Skywalker knew the Secret, but missed the boat

I admit it, I'm a self-confessed Star Wars geek/fan. The whole good vs evil, tragic hero, and wild fantasy is just soooo addictive.

Lately I have been re-watching the movies (for the zillionth time) and seeing the whole Law of Attraction unfold in the narrative.

George Lucas was ahead of his time!

So here we have good guy(Anakin Skywalker) who turns to the Dark Side to become ultimate-bad-guy Darth Vader.

Before the last series of movies, there was always the big question about 'why' Anakin went from being the best Jedi knight around to the real nasty of nasties, Darth Vader. Episode 3 shows it's his fear of losing his love, Padme, that drives him to try any means possible to save her from death in childbirth, including turning to the Dark Side, murdering kids, and attempting to kill his friend and mentor ObiWan Kenobi. Nice, eh?!

How he thought his wife would somehow 'get over' these little hiccups is anyone's guess. She of course does die in childbirth, allegedly of a broken heart when she discovers Anakin has changed (mild understatement).

From a Law of Attraction point of view, Anakin attracted everything he focused on and invested with intense energy. First he lusted after Padme for ten years since he first met her until she finally succumbed to his charms. Next, his fear of losing Padme consumed him. It is no surprise that this is what comes to pass. What we focus on and feel about most strongly tends to manifest. What we resist persists.

So it's his fear of loss that tortures the poor lad into evil. It's pretty obvious that Anakin is in desperate need of some energy/anger management techniques. His emotions overwhelm him. He is swept up in trying to suppress the awful pain of losing his lover. Those Jedi Masters, for all their wisdom, failed to teach him how to release the energy of his emotions and find peace. They were forever telling what not to do: 'watch your pride (don't be boastful), beware of arrogance (don't be oblivious to your faults), 'anger leads to the dark side' (stop being so angry), etc. But no advice on how to transcend his pain. He was somehow just meant to suppress it and 'let it go'.

Even our little green friend Yoda tells him to 'let go of what you fear to lose' but does not tell him how.

Have you ever been told to 'just get over it', 'time heals all wounds', 'this too shall pass', 'everything happens for a reason'? Great little snippets, but are not at all helpful in processing the energy of intense emotion.

So here's what might have helped Anakin had the Jedis known a little more about the energetic vulnerabilities of people in pain. Coach Master Zoe might tell young Skywalker, "First, focus on what you want, not what you don't want. (stop thinking about Padme dying and focus instead on you sharing your lives together with your babies). Next, anytime you feel anger, hatred, and fear well up in you, simply focus on where you feel it in your body, pay attention to its presence, and feel it dissipate. Alternatively, practise some EFT to scramble the emotional energy patterns. You can also journal about it too - verbal rants can be a great release."

Now of course these suggestions hardly make for great cinematic viewing. Can you imagine Anakin tapping on his meridians points as he fretted over Padme or pulling out his diary every time he felt a little anxious? From a movie's point of view, it is far better for Anakin to chuck a wobbly and slash a few people with his light sabre.

Ok so your life is not like a Jedi's in Star Wars. However, you would do well to explore where your emotions are being stymied or allowed to strangle your life. A bit of releasing and positive focus might allow you to leave the Dark Side behind and embrace a more peaceful way of life.

Remember, the Force is with you , always. ;)

  2. Hi Zoe,

I like how you talk about some of the ways Anakin could have dealt with his anger and rage feelings...bottling these up sure doesn't help in the long run. I've known a couple of people who've exploded due to repressed anger, they didn't kill Jedi kids in training but did some other kinds of serious damage.

Do you practice EFT yourself or with people? Do you find it a good way of getting people unscrambled? We have a thread at soulpioneers.com about TFT and EFT, would be great if you could pop up a comment if you have some experience with either of these.

    Best,

    Jonathan.

  3. Hi Jonathon

Yes, I use EFT for both myself and my clients. It is an excellent way to shift vibrations. Amazingly, you don;t even have to believe in it working for it work and release old past beliefs.

I find this tool works best for people when they feel they need to do something 'active' to shift a mood/belief/vibration. There are plenty of other ones too, all work, either alone or in combination, depending on what the individual needs at that moment.

  4. I always thought that the phrase "may the force be with you" had something to do with the law of attraction and one's own power to change one's own life.

I'm currently going through a time of turmoil and I know that the basis of my thoughts and actions should be to focus on what I do want but there is always that negative thoughts that come into play which I know that I have to get rid of.

  5. Hi Angel

Times of turmoil can be pretty unsettling, that's for sure.

It reminds me of an email I got recently from Michael Dooley's Notes from the Universe www.tut.com (highly recommended and one of my faves). Here it is:

"Very often when tides start turning, great gears begin shifting, and gusting winds start blowing at the onset of a really wonderful dream's alignment with your present life, there is commotion, unpredictability, even turmoil.

So, hey, let's always assume that's the case whenever you experience commotion, unpredictability, even turmoil. K?

Let not your senses deceive, for even as the tempest may howl, just beyond it lies a serenity that could not otherwise find you. The storm before the calm, if you will. "

It's about being able to anticipate the calm while riding out the storm. In these kinds of scenarios, I just roll with it - feel whatever I need to feel, and let it all go with a faith that things will change - don't know how, don't know when, but they will.

Peace (and the Force too!) be with you.

  6. That was a great and enlightening post! I think that Lucas does a very good job of developing the characters just like we develop in "real life" attracting our thoughts.

But hey can you blame Anakin for lusting after Padme?

  7. Hi Sherer

Padme is certainly gorgeous. Apparently Natalie Portman does a brilliant job in The Other Boleyn Girl too - I look forward to seeing that one!

  8. I've noticed the same parallel between Star Wars and the Law of Attraction after watching "The Secret" and reading Michael Losiers "Law of Attraction", Wallace Wattles' "The Science Of Getting Rich", Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" and William Walker Atkinsons "Thought Vibration".

I'm guessing George Lucas read some of these books while writing the story for the Star Wars trilogies.

I'm going to find information on Emotional Freedom Techniques because I still occassionally have my Anakin/Darth Vader moments when something doesn't work out the way I expected it to or when anger begins to surface.

  9. hi Daniel

EFT is ok - it's a good way to shift the vibe, but I've since discovered PSYCH-K as a means to shift beliefs that is much, much better. I've included it in my Three Piallrs of Personal Power Law of Attraciotn Block Buster System that you can check out here:

    Happy tapping in the meantime!
