Just turn left

I've been a little obsessed with the First Class Experience since the trip to New Zealand. (Read my post about the Universe's joke on me with this one here.)

Even a client mentioned to me this morning how his wife is brilliant at chatting to service people and she 'usually' gets an upgrade when they check in to a hotel. All she does is smile a lot, be very charming and genuine, and voila! Upgrade. How easy! (of course you have to believe that it IS going to be easy first.)

The day after my upgrade post I was getting my hair done and what do I read in Vogue? Yes - an article about what it's like to travel first class.

What was interesting about this one is that the author was not a usual first class traveler and was in all sorts of knots about what to do, what to wear, how to act in First Class, as if it were some secret cult. She asked her flight attendant friend for tips.

She said, "When you get on the plane, just turn left."

Of course. The choice for living a First Class lifestyle is always as simple as that - choose left instead of going right.

Then why is it so hard?

How about the turbulence my brain and emotions encounter when flying in to the prospect of a First Class choice:

"How could I spend $5 000 on one night's sleep?"
Translation into energetic vibe: There is not enough. I am not enough. I don't deserve it.

"Aren't there better things I should spend my money on, like helping the needy?"
Translation: There is not enough to go around. Rich people are uncaring. Luxury is excessive and selfish.

"People in First Class are selfish and out of touch." Translation: I am jealous. I am a failure because I haven't 'made it' to First Class yet.

I tell you one thing for sure, there is no way I am ever getting an upgrade to First Class with crappy unhelpful beliefs like these.

They are completely anti-prosperity and anti-abundance. And jealousy is #20 out of 22 on the Abraham-Hicks Emotional Guidance Scale.

20!

That's pretty low. Hatred and rage are one up, and revenge is up the scale next. No way I'm going there!

So it's time to whip out that Gratitude Journal and shift up a rung or two (or 20).

Here's a start:

Thank you readers - you keep me honest. I appreciate you being there to read my stumbles, along with the triumphs.

Good on ya!

The Secret - first class style

"The Secret doesn't work," said Rob as the airline attendant rebooked our flight.

We'd spent the best part of a three-hour drive talking out how cool it would be to get an upgrade to first class. We got up that morning at 3:30am to make the drive from Canberra to Sydney knowing our flight to New Zealand had been canceled. Our best chance of getting to NZ on time for our friends' wedding was to make it to the airport early and sneak a spot on another flight. And while we were at it, why not an upgrade? We had fun imagining all the goodies we'd be showered with once ensconced in the plush seats, champagne in hand.

Alas, the next flight was in the afternoon, meaning a six-hour wait in the airport, and no - there was no upgrade.

So where was the Secret in action? Obviously our upgrade failed. The Secret must be a crock, so grumbled Rob. I just laughed and reminded him that the Universe does not always follow our time frames, and wait and see. We might indeed get boosted to first class after all.

We didn't. It was a regular flight, followed by a gung-ho customs agent who searched every item of our belongings and hosed down all of our footwear to prevent any nasties creeping on to New Zealand soil.

Not exactly a first class experience.

Then there was the motel. The brochure labeled the rooms as 'basic'. They were certainly basic, that's for sure! Our room boasted all sorts of odd furniture, obviously collected from various garage sales. At least it was clean.

After kicking off our shoes and a cup of tea, Rob said: "You know what? We've been upgraded! This is the family unit - we're just meant to have a room with an ensuite - this is a full bedroom, ensuite, and kitchen!"

Hilarious. That Universe Guy sure has a sense of humour! It wasn't first class on fancy-pants airline Emirates, but it was an upgrade. Rob was a believer once again.

As for me, I learned that I needed to be more specific in my requests. Also, when I really thought about it, even when I was doing all the visualising with Rob, part of me did not really believe that an upgrade on a fabulous airline would happen. An upgrade at a crappy hotel? Ok - I could see that happening. But First Class on an airplane? Hmm...it seems there are some limiting beliefs to purge here! Perhaps I've got a block around deserving luxury, or maybe there are still some prosperity issues to resolve. In any case, I am sick of cattle class, and totally ready for that upgrade. Time for some personal development, a little EFT, and some scripting.

Next time it will be first class all the way home to Canada. That's 40 hours of travel in total luxury. Yeah - I can dig that!

Manifestation fun time

Some time ago I had a client who defaulted on her account. She avoided any contact with me, did not respond to emails or phone calls. She also had a copy of one my favourite videos, the Secret.

I spent a good deal of energy getting wound up and irritated over the whole affair. A client had never not paid me before - the nerve! And she had my copy of the Secret, one of the original editions with Esther Hicks. Double irritation. Plus the irony of missing the video that talks about deliberate manifestation only irritated me more! I found myself really peeved, thinking not-so-generous thoughts about my client, and then feeling guilty for lacking compassion and understanding.

It was an ugly cycle of bad vibes.

Needless to day, neither the money nor the video materialised as I continued with the negative diatribe.

Finally I decided what was really important in the situation. It was definitely to get the DVD back. The money was not needed, but the DVD was missed. I visualised the safe return of the movie, felt excited about the prospect of it being back in my hands, and sent one more text message conveying my good wishes and a request to return the video.

The video was returned, without a note, and its casing crushed.

I was happy to get it back and my silent good wishes for the client felt good. But there was still an underlying yucky vibe - why had she not paid me? It was like a festering sore.

To make things worse, each month my husband asked me if the client had paid me. Each month I would say 'no' with a guilty and uncomfortable flinch. He said, "do you want me to sue her?" He's a lawyer; they litigate.

No - absolutely not! As frustrated as I was about the non-payment, the thought of going to court in what felt like for me a malicious pursuit was even worse. It was better to suffer the bad debt than invite that kind of anger and animosity in to my life. After all, I did not need the money, and there were probably extenuating circumstances.

This is where compassion crept in. Who knows why the client defaulted? I knew she was going through a marriage break-up and a job loss. These are distracting and challenging events for anyone. She probably had a lot on her plate and an unpaid bill was the least of her worries. So I decided to keep a place in my heart for her and sent her loving thoughts. I wished her strength in handling the personal crisis.

Ultimately I decided that I just did not want to feel bad about the situation. It had really been eating me up inside. My peace of mind was not worth the outstanding account. I let go of needing her to pay the bill and decided to write off the debt.

I also decided the whole situation was really about my own old issues with money still surfacing. Some old vibrational patterns run deep, and situations like this press old buttons. Being free of the buttons was more important to me than anything else. I wanted to be free of the emotional charge of worry around money once and for all, so letting go of the account felt good. It felt really good.

It also allowed me to set up systems that would prevent this issue from occurring in the future with any other client. that way there was never any apprehension around billing time. It was all automatic. It felt good for me, and easy for both me and my clients.

So surprise, surprise when I received a text message from the client with the delinquent account that read: "so sorry to have taken so long to get back to you. Here is my address - please send the invoice here." The client and the account had slipped from my attention when I decided to release the need to get paid. And here she was, a few months later, asking for the invoice!

I smiled. Of course. When you let go of the need to have your desires fulfilled, then that is when you allow them in to your life. No struggle, no pain, no anxiety. Boy that feels good!

This is the lesson in manifesting for me: it's never really about getting the goods. It's always about the peacefulness and feel good place you experience when you set an intention, and then focus on living a good life now.

Blessings and mucho fun manifestation to you!

Bob Doyle speaks up on video

Hey there Law of Attraction fans!

Bob Doyle has released a new video on You Tube that was downloaded 3500 times overnight. He addresses some of the issues that have been raised as a result of the incredible response to the movie the Secret.

In his short 8 minutes video he addresses things like:

- Is this all about money??
- What is resistance?
- Is this all about sitting around doing nothing?
- The myth of "like attracts like"

Check out the video here:

p.s. Bob Doyle is one of my mentors and people who inspires me the most. He does talk about manifestation, but only as one small aspect of a greater wealth consciousness. My kind of guy!

Anakin Skywalker knew the Secret, but missed the boat

I admit it, I'm a self-confessed Star Wars geek/fan. The whole good vs evil, tragic hero, and wild fantasy is just soooo addictive.

Lately I have been re-watching the movies (for the zillionth time) and seeing the whole Law of Attraction unfold in the narrative.

George Lucas was ahead of his time!

So here we have good guy(Anakin Skywalker) who turns to the Dark Side to become ultimate-bad-guy Darth Vader.

Before the last series of movies, there was always the big question about 'why' Anakin went from being the best Jedi knight around to the real nasty of nasties, Darth Vader. Episode 3 shows it's his fear of losing his love, Padme, that drives him to try any means possible to save her from death in childbirth, including turning to the Dark Side, murdering kids, and attempting to kill his friend and mentor ObiWan Kenobi. Nice, eh?!

How he thought his wife would somehow 'get over' these little hiccups is anyone's guess. She of course does die in childbirth, allegedly of a broken heart when she discovers Anakin has changed (mild understatement).

From a Law of Attraction point of view, Anakin attracted everything he focused on and invested with intense energy. First he lusted after Padme for ten years since he first met her until she finally succumbed to his charms. Next, his fear of losing Padme consumed him. It is no surprise that this is what comes to pass. What we focus on and feel about most strongly tends to manifest. What we resist persists.

So it's his fear of loss that tortures the poor lad into evil. It's pretty obvious that Anakin is in desperate need of some energy/anger management techniques. His emotions overwhelm him. He is swept up in trying to suppress the awful pain of losing his lover. Those Jedi Masters, for all their wisdom, failed to teach him how to release the energy of his emotions and find peace. They were forever telling what not to do: 'watch your pride (don't be boastful), beware of arrogance (don't be oblivious to your faults), 'anger leads to the dark side' (stop being so angry), etc. But no advice on how to transcend his pain. He was somehow just meant to suppress it and 'let it go'.

Even our little green friend Yoda tells him to 'let go of what you fear to lose' but does not tell him how.

Have you ever been told to 'just get over it', 'time heals all wounds', 'this too shall pass', 'everything happens for a reason'? Great little snippets, but are not at all helpful in processing the energy of intense emotion.

So here's what might have helped Anakin had the Jedis known a little more about the energetic vulnerabilities of people in pain. Coach Master Zoe might tell young Skywalker, "First, focus on what you want, not what you don't want. (stop thinking about Padme dying and focus instead on you sharing your lives together with your babies). Next, anytime you feel anger, hatred, and fear well up in you, simply focus on where you feel it in your body, pay attention to its presence, and feel it dissipate. Alternatively, practise some EFT to scramble the emotional energy patterns. You can also journal about it too - verbal rants can be a great release."

Now of course these suggestions hardly make for great cinematic viewing. Can you imagine Anakin tapping on his meridians points as he fretted over Padme or pulling out his diary every time he felt a little anxious? From a movie's point of view, it is far better for Anakin to chuck a wobbly and slash a few people with his light sabre.

Ok so your life is not like a Jedi's in Star Wars. However, you would do well to explore where your emotions are being stymied or allowed to strangle your life. A bit of releasing and positive focus might allow you to leave the Dark Side behind and embrace a more peaceful way of life.

Remember, the Force is with you , always. ;)
