My girlfriend Josie and hubby Andy had a baby girl this morning. I was the official aunty, designated to babysit their first bubba, Charlie, who just turned 1 on the weekend. Yes they are nuts having two kids so close together, but hey, it's a grand adventure.
I have to say I was overwhelmed by the whole experience, and I was just in the waiting room! The whole event took just over an hour from getting to hospital and baby wrapped up in a blanket. And there was this beautiful little miracle gazing with new eyes at the world, little fingers wriggling and waving. Wow.
It was truly amazing. It was another incredible reminder of the dazzling miracle of life, operating from an intelligence well beyond our limited comprehension. All we can do is sit and wonder at the beauty and perfection it all. From the new bud of a tulip opening to the morning sunshine, to the exquisite detail of a newborn's fingernail, there is a force that is gentle and perfect that guides us with infinite wisdom. Even when we fail to see a rhyme and a reason.
When I've come back to earth, I'll share some more photos from the trip to Dubbo and some exciting new projects happening in LOA land - my new babies!
