Thank to everyone who sent me kind wishes and support after last week's post. I'm doing ok!
Do you remember that film with Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan (can't remember the name) where Nick is an angel and his job is to escort the souls of the dying to the light again? He always asks, 'what did you like the most?' I thought often of this question for the young man who died last weekend - what would he say he liked most of his 28 years?
Then I thought about I would say...here it is...
Afternoon sunshine on the day bed in our guest bedroom where I can curl up like a cat
Blue sky in summer
A warm spring breeze
The way flowers bloom every year without being told to, and knowing exactly the perfect time to release their colour and scent on the waiting world
Warm kisses from my husband
The feel of fresh clean sheets on Sunday night
Laughing so hard tears run down your face
The look, smell, and feel of the ocean - enormous, endless, changeable and constant
Hugs that hold you tight and warm your heart
Holding hands
Cup of tea in the morning
Running at dawn
Rain on the tent roof when I am snug in my sleeping bag
Baby smiles
Reading a good book
Creamy fettucini with prawns (I can't believe this is my first food one!)
The turquoise blue water of Ningaloo reef
The chatter of birds as they nibble spring tree blossoms
The smell of water when you emerge from a dive in to Lake of Woods on a late summer's evening before the sun sets
Thunder and lightning
Purring kittens
The pyramids
English castles
Whales and their calves bobbing along the coast
Dolphins that surf waves and jump out of the water
French brie and sourdough baguette
Clean fresh water from a mountain spring
A big bold glass of rich red wine
Gin and tonics on a summer's afternoon deck with friends
and so much more...
You know what? It doesn't matter if I don't get to see it all; to know that it is there is enough.
What's on your list?
Zoe
