How do I shift my confidence as a business leader?

One of the women in my SAGE Mastermind (Stellar Aussie Goddess Entrepreneurs) is simply amazing. Janet Beckers is launching new products, speaking around Australia, and generally thinking and talking BIG. REALLY BIG.

Much bigger than I have had the courage to think so far.

So I asked her, 'how do you shift your mindset and confidence so that you an really think BIG numbers in revenue, customers, and reach?'

She had two tips for me. She said,

1. "I keep doing things that scare me. And as I do them and have some success, I build my confidence little by little. The cumulative effect is that now I can think and do BIG numbers - BIG product launches, BIG events, and thereby help more and more women in business achieve their business goals. It's really cool.

2. I also pretend I am someone else. I imagine that I am the type of person that would do big launches - I act like them, I talk like them, I make requests like them. I fake it to get used to it. By pretending to be someone else it actualy helps me to convince myself that I AM capable of it."

Sharon Tieney, Madame Marketing, who is also a SAGE mastermind said:

"The 'why I'm nots' are often more powerful than the 'why' of doing something. These are your natural blocks to following through on big goals. Becoming aware of this internal dialogue is hte first step in overcoming it. So if you think for example that growing your business is just going to make you even more busy and you can't stomach the thought of working even harder, then this is a very real obstacle to overcome. Once you know that your inner voice is holding you back like this, you can put strategies in place to handle your own inner objections."

This conversation had a huge impact on me.

I started to implement their tips, and have suddenly lurched in to a whole new perspective about what is possible for me - I really am playing bigger, and settling into new numbers that are BIG - much bigger than I ever contemplated beforehand.

The best part? The more I play BIG, the more I inspire others to do so too. Now that's worth making some shifts!

  1. Hey Zoe
Thanks so much for the kind words. You know, as I was reading it, I was even pretending you were writing about someone else who was a big thinker. That way it could seem real. Funny how you can trick your mind into visualising who you want to become, just to realise one day that you have become that person after all!
You are a total inspiration Zoe. You are always seeking to improve and be the best you can be. Your clients are lucky to have someone who shares her journey.
