Gratitude vs Appreciation

This is what I heard on the latest Abraham recording:

"While the word gratitude and appreciation seem almost the same; when you look them up in the dictionary there won't be too much difference, but gratitude is what realists do and appreciation is what those in the Vortex do. Because in gratitude there is the looking at what has been overcome only in looking at it you're not overcoming it, you're in it in that moment. In other words it's laced with the struggle that you're talking about having left behind. But you haven't left it behind. We're nitpicking here we know but there is a HUGE vibrational difference in gratitude and appreciation. One's in the Vortex, the other one isn't...Gratitude is old news!"

Yay! I smirked with delight because this finally explains why I have found so much personal resistance to the idea of needing to 'express gratitude' in order to do the right thing in manifesting. It always felt like a 'should', an obligation. To me needing to be grateful implied a sort of debt owed, an obligation, a requirement for humility.

Appreciation just sounded so much more fun, free, and devoid of any requirement for exchange. It's like a vibrational thumbs up. It's forward focusing, pure energy.

Does that mean I'm not ever grateful? I am. And when I am fully in that feeling of gratitude - for being alive, for being healthy, for having good friends, it feels really delicious - but it's also when I am feeling the most appreciative and thumbs-uppy to my life. So the gratitude that feels good is really pure appreciation.

Humble gratitude is what I felt when people visited me when I had cancer and brought me gifts. I was grateful - truly - for the effort is their support of me. I was purely receiving and the only energy I could generate was gratitude. I had no space for any other emotion or action!

Now appreciation - it's firy, sparkly, and moving.

What do you think? Gratitude or appreciation?
