Compass Bearings Vol 6.3

Law of Attraction in real life

In this edition:

Main article: Law of Attraction in real life
Stuff to expand your consciousness: A telecourse, a book,
the Queen

Note from Zoë

Hi there

There's some really cool stuff happening in the universe right now.
Have you noticed?

First congratulations to Jeannette Maw who is filming
for the Oprah show this week, to be aired sometime soon.
Jeannette Maw is one of the groovers I interviewed for
Law of Attraction Superhighway. You can get the
interview here, before she becomes super famous
from Oprah and say, "I knew her when...".

And more congratulations to Dr Rebbie Straubing,
also interviewed for Law of Attraction Superhighway,
is releasing her book, Rooted in the Infinite, this week.
Details below. You can get her interview here.

This week is all about living the Law of Attraction,
and making it easy.

Enjoy!

Zoe

Law of Attraction in real life

It's been a huge couple of weeks: Heath Ledger died,
the air conditioning conked out, our house was broken
in to (nothing taken thank goodness), my course is sold
out, and my hormones are bouncing off the radar
with the IVF treatments.

Easy to feel overwhelmed! However I've put my attention
squarely on what I want: and that my friends, above all
else, is to feel good, to feel free, and to be happy.

So how do you do it when confronted with such biggies?

Heath dying. Like many, I was sad, shocked, and
completely distracted by this gorgeous young man's
early demise. He leaves behind a 2 year old girl
and the world wondering, "what if" and "if only".

The thing is, it just felt awful to wallow in the
these thoughts. I was desperate to shift form this
vibe because it was so unsettling. So I gently I
brought my attention back to what I did know:
Heath, like all of us, is made of energy, and in his
dying he has simply changed form. Energy cannot
be created or destroyed - it simply moves through
form. So Heath's essence is out here in the wider
world: I felt him in the wind in the trees, the brilliant
splash of sunlight on the sea, and the endless sky
so peaceful.

It doesn't make Heath's death ok; it makes me ok
with Heath's death. And I feel a little bit better about it all.

The house break in. I was on the phone in my office
when I saw a young ma walk up the back steps and
heard him go in the house. There was a stranger in my
house! Rob called the cops and I locked myself in the
office as I heard the man tramp through the place. The
next ten minutes seemed like half an hour until Rob and
the cops turned up. I was terrified. Through that whole
time, I managed to calm down and notice what I was
doing to myself: I was running 'what if' scenarios through
my head, I was mourning the loss of my safety as I
could never work at home alone again, and so on.
Essentially, I was working myself in to a complete lather
when I was actually fine. The kid left the house after two
minutes (I heard the door slam). It turns out he was a
young fella with Down Syndrome who was just a little lost.

The biggest fears I faced in that moment were all in my
own imagination. I was the one terrorising myself.
When I brought my awareness gently back to the
moment, I could feel calm again. And this week, I am
still working from home, and feel quite safe.

My course selling out. That was a fun one! I simply
focused on what I wanted to feel (connected, engaged,
fun), who I wanted to work with (folks who want to
learn and grow and collaborate in a powerful fun
atmosphere) and poof! The Canberra course was sold out.

For the record, I still have room on my telecourse.
If you are keen to learn and thrive in a community
of like-minded thinkers, then check it out here.

IVF hormones. No doubt about it, trying to get
pregnant is an emotionally charged process, especially
if it is a protracted affair. This is our second round of
IVF. However, the experience is different for me this
time. I have been a little more emotional that's true, and
my stomach has swollen like a watermelon. However,
I have been giving myself a break mentally - no more
pressure on myself, no more wondering 'what if' . Lately
I have been focussing on what I want through having
a child: connection, opportunity to love and support and
cherish. And I have been focusing my attention on
where i can feel this now: with my hubby, with the folks
who are in the 3 Pillars workshop, and maybe in getting
a pet. My girlfriend recently bought a dog after trying
for babies for over three years and presto! she's preggers.
So I figure something more cuddly than the worms in my
worm farm far might be in order.

Through all this, the lessons are simple: keep focussed
on what I want - how I want to feel, and allow
myself to feel those lovely feelings now, regardless
of circumstances. We are the ones after all who make
something 'good' or 'bad' - we make the meanings in our
life, we tell the stories that make us feel good or make us
feel bad. We get to choose. So why not choose a meaning
that feels good?

That my friends is how you live a life of delight, peace,
and happiness.

Here's to you and your life,

Zoe

Note from Zoë

And a very Happy New Year to you all. I do hope 2008 is feeling groovy for you already.

As for me, the beach was a fabulous break. Lots of surfing (the waves were massive due to a cyclone up in Queensland). Photos are here on the blog. All we did was surf, swim, play tennis, golf, and lie around a lot watching Star Wars. Plus have a lot of afternoon naps. I swear the 'nana nap' should mandated as a national policy.

Apart from napping, my intentions for 2008 include plenty of fun ideas. 'Learning' is a key theme for me; I'm tingling all over at the prospect of the following: kinesiology, Psych-K, fluency, and hanging out with various of the coaches I interviewed for
Law of Attraction Superhighway. And I intend to share everything I
learn with you, dear readers!

Enjoy the ride,

Zoe

3 Pillars of Personal Power

In all the work I've done in personal development over the last twenty years, including the Law of Attraction principles, I've come to discover that there are only really three key pillars to personal success - however you define success.

Whatever you desire for 2008 and beyond, if you pay attention to the following pillars, you'll get everything you desire. Just don't forget about the guiding lights (revealed at the end of this article).

1. Environmental Design
Since I've been reading Bruce Lipton's The Biology of Belief, I've
consolidated my understanding of the importance of environments in personal growth - both on a cellular level, and on a whole-being level. Cells actually thrive or die according to the quality of their environment. Think about it - roses don't grow in cement, whales don't last long on the beach, and plants fry in too much sunlight. Every organism, including you, needs a good environment to be fully functional, healthy, and happy.

In practical terms, what does this mean for you, the modern productive human? Your environments are either supporting you, or they're not. How can you tell? Well, if you feel tired, bogged down, stressed, exhausted, or overwhelmed, then chances are something in your environment needs to change.

Make sure you assess the following for energy drainers:
Your physical space - clutter, mess, dirt, piles of stuff, broken
appliances, out of date clothes with holes, or clothes that don't fit,
a car that needs a service. I put a lot of effort my physical space -
keeping it clean, tidy, and organised. I simply can't think clearly
if there are piles of junk heaped up.

Your physical body - that's right, nothing new here - make sure what you're putting down your gullet is quality, nutrient rich, and mostly fresh. Then you also need to keep the wheels well-greased with exercise - fresh air and sunlight also a must. Energy drainers?
Try caffeine, alcohol, cigarettes, refined foods, sugar. Minimise or
dump the altogether.

Your relationships - yes, these can be massive drainers. Look out for gossiping, back-biting, criticism, lack of praise and appreciation. I am sure you know who's a drain in your life. You don't need to put up with this! Renegotiate the terms of your relationship, or get out.

2. Focus Funnel
This is a model I developed for Absolute Productivity. Basically all
your activities should be based on your values, and the top items on your wish list. All the rest is just gumph and time wasters. Once you know what your vision is for you and your life, and you've written your wish list, then you can make decisions based on these priorities. This alone can double your productivity.

Keeping focused - this is where your manifestation strategies come in. Things like a vision board, scripting exercises, meditation, visualisation, affirmations, living visions, and so on. All these keep you focused on your intentions, and more importantly, keep you amped up and riding a good vibration.

3. Beliefs
No amount of focus, scripting, or even environmental design is going to bring what you desire unless your beliefs are aligned too. Beliefs determine thoughts, emotional vibe, and actions, and therefore determine the outcomes in your life. Crappy beliefs = crappy results.

What's a crappy belief? Well, ask yourself what it is that you really,
really, really want more than anything else in the world.

Let's say it's a Maserati Spider (we actually saw one in Bermagui
during the break. The owner was so nervous about putting a dint in
his $300 000 sports car that he drove 20km under the speed limit. I mean come on! If you're going to own a decent sports car - at least drive it!)

Now ask yourself why you don't have it yet.

Maybe you really fancy that Spider, but deep down you think it is an excessive waste of money that serves no real purpose except to look cool. (yes Rob, I've heard you say this!)

With a belief like that, there is no way you're ever getting behind the wheel of that sucker!

People have all sorts of limiting beliefs. Zapping these bugs in your
human software is the most critical and empowering thing you can
do for your life.

How do you do it? Try Emotional Freedom Technique, kinesiology,
Byron Katie's work, fluency, re-scripting, Psych-K, core dynamics.
There are lots of ways - do one, do them all, but do this work now.
Otherwise your vision board will just be another thing cluttering
your desk.

The Guiding Lights in your personal evolution
1. Expand your awareness
Lipton explains how his research shows that it is the cell's membrane that is actually responsible for decisions in a cell's life, not the nucleus. He proved this by extracting the nucleus from the cell and observing that the cell continued to function perfectly well, except when it came to producing new proteins and DNA (the main function of the nucleus) to repair and replace itself.

Lipton also observed that since the cell 'thought' with its membrane, then if that membrane expanded and had a greater surface area, the better-equipped it was to interpret, engage with, extract nutrients from, and avoid threats in its environment. Bigger membrane = better survival and growth.

Cells however can't enlarge indefinitely (think of a balloon filling with water - it expands and then breaks as the strength of the membrane reaches its limit). A great solution for cells was to band together in a cooperative community to share information about their environment. As communities of cells grew, they worked out it was more efficient to have some cells specialise in particular functions. In the human body, there are millions of different kinds of cells, each with their own particular function, all working together to promote a greater awareness and ability to interpret and respond to its environment.

Companies work in a similar manner: humans work collaboratively for a common purpose, each specialising in a particular function for increased awareness and efficiency.

What does this mean for you and your life? Increasing your own
awareness, your ability to observe and interpret your environment,
will radically improve your ability to respond, interpret, and take action that supports your success.

How do you improve your awareness? First of all, sort out your three Pillars of Personal Power, as listed above. Next, develop your intuition through meditation and other energy modalities. Third, collaborate with others to expand your knowledge and self-perception either one-on-one with a coach or with a mastermind group. Collaboration will enhance your intuition.

2. Fun.
It's easy to take personal development too seriously. After all, this is your life we're talking about! However, by taking a serious approach you only confound and bog down your efforts in creating a life of ease and grace. Start the vibe off right - have fun! When you take an attitude of fun and delight to your life, then everything flows far more easily and gracefully.

Did you know that 2008 is officially the Year of Fun? Well, it is now, according to all the cohorts her at Inner Compass. Join us!

Here's to you and your life,

Book Review - The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton

Unleashing the power of consciousness, matter, and miracles.

This book really delivers. For a science book, it is easy-to-read,
complete with graphs and photographs to explain key points.
Lipton expands on his observations of the cell and quantum physics and its implications for humanity. In brief, since we are all made out of energy, and our thoughts are energy too, then our thoughts create and influence our biology. In short, you can think yourself thin, healthy, rich or whatever else you desire. Though this is a familiar concept in Law of Attraction literature, Lipton brings a fresh perspective with his science of epigenetics.

A very cool read - recommended. Check it out here.

relaunch, looks like a juicy one. He's been loading awesome videos to his blog for a limited time only in anticipation of the relaunch. Check them out here.

I use Morin's Ebook Cover Generator and think it is the duck's guts. I can design a cover for a new product in about ten minutes that looks totally awesome. Saves me time and a ton of cash when marketing a new product. It does CD covers, reports, ebooks, boxed products, all out of the same design. Very cool. Check it out here.

Note from Zoë

Just a few more days until we hit the beach. I have been hanging out
for the feel of that sand and rippin' it up on the waves with my boogie board.

I love December - time to celebrate another terrific year of being
alive on this gorgeous planet. I press 'pause' and savour
accomplishments, remember adventures, and feel thankful for the
fabulous life I've created. Yes sirree, life is good.

Between surfing, tennis, golf, and general mooching, thoughts of the coming year drift in and start to tingle the toes with excitement. With
a good plan, it all looks terrific.

I want you to feel this blissed out too, so I'm sharing some of my
planning tips with you.

By the way, thanks for being part of a great 2007. You guys mean
the world to me. :)

Zoe

p.s. People have been asking about the crazy gardener since I wrote
about him in a previous newsletter. Update: his patch of turf has
expanded and is now resplendent with massive sunflowers,
petunias, pansies, and a range of other flowers. It's still bizarre, but at
least now I've moved from cynical disdain to curious amazement at
his endeavour. His tenacity and dedication are remarkable.

2008 is your year

I love the start of a new year. All that freshness. It's fun pressing the
'reset' button and playing a new game.

It's so easy to hit 'replay' instead of 'reset'. And then you find
yourself in a horrible Ground Hog Day rerun. Every day looking the
same; this year feeling the same as the last. Before you know it you
are in a rut, stuck in the doldrums, and plain old grumpy, if not
worse.

Don't let this be you!

2008 can be a fantastic year. It can be your year.

But you've got to choose it. You've got to intend it. You've got to
plan for it.

You've got to feel it. You've got to ooze excitement and confidence. You've got to feel the thrill of the unknown running under the current
of your dreams.

And because I love you guys so much for being such loyal readers
all year, and for some of you, the last five years, I am sharing my
personal planning technique. Use this and watch things materialise.

Instructions
* Use colour. Why? Because it's fun and it fires up the brain.
* Use a mind map or write a list - whichever you prefer.
* Have fun.

First, celebrate the year that is closing soon.
We do not celebrate nearly enough. Take a few moments to savour
the good stuff from 2007.

Here are some suggestions:
*What are your special moments from the year? What was great about these? How did you feel?
*What are some achievements? What did you learn? Who have you become?
*If there were disappointments, then now is the time to let them go. Acknowledge they happened, and note what you can learn from them.

Then it's time to focus firmly on the future.

Bring on 2008: choose your theme for the year.
2007 was about fun, freedom, and adventure or me. (This is even in
bold letters on my home page). And that's the kind of year I had -
freedom in creating my business projects as well as my own working hours (I just love working for myself - holy cow is it good.) Fun and adventure? Try boogie board, hiking, New Zealand, photography,
Byron Bay, Dubbo, telemark skiing. It's been awesome.

2008 will be about community and connection. I have a strong desire
to engage like-minded folks in big visions and collaborate on cool projects.

So how to pick your theme?

Think of how you'd like to feel in 2008. Here are some words to
spark your imagination: excited, enthusiastic, challenged, peaceful,
free, prosperous, abundant, connected, fun, adventure, serving,
contributing, belonging, communal, inspired, adventurous,
traveling, discovering, creative, learning.

Jot down the ones that you are drawn to. From each of these words you
can expand in to specifics. For example, in my adventure section I've
listed bushwalking in Namadgi National Park and the Budawangs,
learning ow to sea kayak on the Aussie south coast, and telemarking
in Kosciuszko National Park. The idea is to ask, "what experiences
will allow me to feel this way?"

Expand your vision.
To extend your 2008 plan, you can jot some ideas for the following
areas:
*Holidays
*Wellbeing and health
*Family
*Friends
*Hobbies
*Learning and career - I list books, audio programs, workshops,
coaches, and other specialists
*Community - How will you engage with your community? This
could be as simple as attending a charity fun run, or inviting your neighbour around for a barbecue
*Goodies - these are treats for you - like a new wardrobe, that
bathroom renovation you've wanted to do for 15 years, and so on.

I also refer to my Master List when planning each year. On this list I
have people I want to meet, places I want to visit, adventures I want
to enjoy, and things I'd like to own.

Get your calendar out.
Mark off the big things, like holidays, that you need to book in. Take action immediately to secure these days (ask for time off, block that
time in your diary).

Pick some smaller dates for the smaller items. If you intend to do more entertaining, mark off a weekend that you'll have a dinner party. Later
you can send the invitation and plan the menu.

Post your plan.
I always put mine in the Prosperity Corner (this is the op left hand
corner as you enter the office or work area). That way as I'm working
I can glance up and remember what I am creating for the year. It feels good.

Adapt your plan as you go.
Last year many of the things I listed happened by mid-year, so I had
to devise a whole new plan. Very cool! It's amazing how quickly
things happen once you set your intentions.

Avoid this trap.
Don't get overwhelmed trying to figure out how it's all going to
happen. Some things you can do right now to move things along, and
some other things you can just let sit on the back burner until a moment
of inspiration seizes you. Just know that if you keep your thoughts
positive and and happy, things will happen in perfect timing. The most important thing is that you enjoy the whole process, the day to day unfolding, and not just fast-forward to the end.

Here's a snapshot of my plan for 2008:

Happy planning!

Zoe

Stuff that works

Law of Attraction Superhighway
You've got until Wednesday December 19th 8pm EST (NY) or
Thursday December 20th noon Sydney Aussie time to get a copy at
the launch price of $97 US. It goes up to $147 after that.

Get it here now: http://www.LOAforCoaches.com

Here are some comments I've been getting about Law of Attraction Superhighway:

"I read all the transcript and found it to be really good stuff. I
especially liked the interview with Jeannette Maw and her re-writing beliefs exercise." - Tom, Canberra

"I've been listening to the interviews and I find it all really
fascinating. I love this idea of disappearing limiting beliefs forever.
It's been really helpful for me." - Stephanie, Sydney

"Some of the information is focused on coaching, but you know
what, I am learning heaps for myself even though I am not a coach."
- Joy, Sydney

"Zoe Routh picked the brains of ten of the best LOA coaches and
made the total package available for less than $100. This is one of my
favorite Law of Attraction products I've ever seen, and not just
because I'm in it. Zoe's the real deal. She delivers profoundly, and
also packs in oodles of delicious extras that will get your new year off
to a nice start." - Jeannette Maw, USA

Q: What if I'm not a coach?

A:Perfect! One thing I know about coaches is that they are always
hungry for new personal development resources and stuff that really works. We've all got our own 'issues' and stuff to sort out, so we're
keen, perhaps doubly keen, to find resources and strategies that work
- first for ourselves, and then for our clients.

So if coaches are sharing their tips, you can be guaranteed it works -
it's worked for them, and they've trusted the technique enough to use
it with clients.

This is the kind of thing we've discussed in the interviews:

*How to identify limiting beliefs quickly
*How to obliterate those limiting beliefs
*Manifestation tips for prosperity and abundance
*Living an easy life.

Coach or not a coach, this is juicy stuff.

Then there's the terrific bonuses:

*52 belief busting questions
*Comprehensive Law of Attraction Resource List
*"Why isn't it showing up?" audio with Dr Drew Rozell

and a whole goodie bag stuffed with more great ebooks, audios,
reports, and ecourses.

Really though, the value for me in putting this project together was
sharing the energy of these master coaches who have such a clear
focus and absolute certainty on how to live a very cool life. Their
energy really does rub off listening to the interviews. That itself is
worth its weight in gold.

By the way, if you learn nothing from the Law of Attraction Superhighway, I'll happily refund your money. So there is no risk to
you.

It's a good gift to give yourself for the holiday.

Enjoy!

2008 - Your New Year Kick Start
Because clients have been asking, and because it fits with my theme of community and connection, I'll be offering a 2008 - Your Year Kick
Start group program sometime towards the end of January when the euphoria of Christmas has worn off. If you're in Canberra, I'll have a strictly limited in-person event, and for those interstate and international folks, we'll do a teleclass event. Details and dates to come.

Book Review - The Prosperity Paradigm

I love Steve d'Annunzio's book. I've read a lot of Law of Attraction prosperity books this year (I mean - a lot), and this one is new, fresh,
and focused on an 'enlightened entrepreneur' approach. The main gist
is that you focus on fulfilling your soul purpose through an expression
of love, prosperity flows to you naturally.

Featured Link - The 9 Insights of the Wealthy Soul

This is a lovely book about a former WWII pilot by Dr Michael
Norwood. While facing a grave illness, he teaches his son 9
extraordinary lessons about transforming any challenge in to wealth
of every kind.

If you know my story about cancer, then you'll know how much I
resonate with this message. Life is for living, and there is always a
gift somewhere in whatever happens to you, no matter how difficult
and painful it may seem at the time.

This is a soul-to-soul kind of a book. So if you're looking for a little
inspiration and connection, then get this book.

The other cool thing is that they'll let you read it all for free for the
next 21 days. Awesome.

in Northwest Ontario, run 6
marathons, hiked hundreds of
kilometers in Australia's outback,
worked ten years at Outward Bound,
survived cancer, married a fair
dinkum Aussie bloke, and wrestled
a 6 meter crocodile. It's all true,
except for the crocodile part.

As the Head Coach at Inner Compass,
Zoe helps personal development
enthusiasts create their own best life
following the Law of Attraction. It's
all about fun, freedom, and adventure.

If you want to live a life that rocks
your socks, then get in contact.

It's time.
