3 Great Leadership and Self-Development Books for June
Even if you did have this idyllic upbringing, learning and growing is a natural state of being. One of the ways I love to evolve is by exposure to other great leaders, and through great writers.
Here are three awesome books that will definitely expand your thinking.
1. "Losing My Virginity" by Richard Branson
What an awesome story! Some of the things I discovered were: Branson has a fear of public speaking (amazing but true), he had many failures including his first venture the journal Student, he made every business decision based primary and mostly on the metric 'is it fun?' Reading about the evolution of the Virgin brand is the evolution and expansion of a human being's capacity to dream, dare, and bring people along with you. Rating: awesome.
2. "The Spark, the Flame, and the Torch - Inspire Self. Inspire Others. Inspire the World" by Lance Secretan
This is one of the most accessible leadership books I've ever read. Plus, it has the easiest and most powerful methodologies for determining your 'life purpose' that I've ever encountered: start with what you consider the 'terrathreats' - the one or two things that are at the root cause of humanity's concerns. Summarise in one word if possible. Next, identity its exact opposite - this becomes your 'terrafix'. Play with the terrafix as a statement, and you have your life purpose and destiny. Cool, huh? Secretan follows with more practical and easy to sift focus on your calling and character, values to lead by, and how to lead and inspire others. An excellent read for all people - leaders in the home, community, life, and business.
3. "The Answer" by John Assaraf
This is the best read I have found that explains beautifully the quantum physics principles behind the law of attraction and how these blend in a practical way with business development. Assaraf's 'neuroconditioning' process is also easy-to-understand and easy to implement - and it works! The basics: get into a feel-good state, imagine and visualise in vivid details what you want to create/be/experience, repeat several times per day with affirmation statements and other subconscious reminders. Since I started implementing his strategy, I have had a significant change in revenue and an influx of new, amazing opportunities. It works and I am definitely a fan.

6. The Art of Hosting and Harvesting Conversations That Matter. In July a hosting team of overseas and Australian practitioners will be leading training in The Art of Hosting and Harvesting Conversations That Matter. The purpose of the training is to provide a space where you can consider how the important question evolves in the consciousness of the conversation participants, how you decide what it is that you want to harvest from the conversation and how you, as host, maximise the quality of the harvest through our hosting practice.
The training will also include a series of training or theory sessions including dealing with chaos and order, living systems, the three concepts of divergence, emergence and convergence and the design of system change.
7. Being in Heaven.
It's a great film by an Aussie team - genuine practical techniques for living the law of attraction and deliberately creating everything you desire. Very cool.

Is this The Answer?
I've read a lot of Law of Attraction books. This new one is by Murray Smith, business whiz, and John Assaraf (remember the guy from the Secret who talked about Vision Boards - and how he manifested his Dream House? Assaraf is this guy). I LOVED this book! Firstly, they did a terrific job of summarising the qyantum physics and personal development technology that underpins the tenets of Law of Attraction. They've made it easy to read, and easy to understand.
Actually, they made it FUN and inspiring to read about science.
Next, they've included a fantastic manifestation process that addresses the fundamental challenge of changing beliefs to support your vision (often glossed over by manifestation books). Though the process is not instant - they advocate repeating it three times per day for a month - it feels great.
The process is:
Meditate
Visualise with positive anchors
Affirmations
Subliminal reinforcement of your vision and affirmations (through things like vision boards).
Doesn't sound like anything new, but somehow it feels more powerful and engaging than other Law of Attraction books. I've started the process, I feel different, and I am magnetising clients to me like crazy. So - it's working already!
The book has a great VIBE about it. It resonates genuine sincerity and a desire to serve and help you expand your business vision. Oh yeah - the book is written explicity for the business owner, or aspiring business owner.
The second half of the book focuses on basic marketing messages for business: know your ideal client get clear on what you offer, identify media platforms and strategies. But by the time you've walked through the exercises in the first half of the book this part feel fun and not so grinding as other marketing books.
And here's the best part of the book: there is NO over the top pitch about seminars, programs, or other offers that other books of this ilk ram at you. In fact, offers of any kind seem absent altogether. The book appears as a genuine, fair dinkum, sincere sharing of wisdom through experience and achievements, with the sole purpose of helping you to do the same.
And that makes me want to hire them more than any other book-as-lead-generator book that I have come across.
So well done gentleman - two thumbs up.

Notes from A Coach - Manifestation - it's here!
At long last, I am pleased to announce that my pet project and coolest creation to date is now read for your eyeballs to devour and savour!
Here it is:
What the heck is it?
It is a collection of notes I wrote to clients following their coaching sessions on various topics including money, manifestation, relationships, career, and so on. I had so much material, I've divided it into three e-books, being released over the next several weeks.
Why should you care?
If you're curious about what happens behind the scenes in a coaching meeting, and what kind of results people get, and how they solve their issues, then this e-book will give you a massive head start on getting your own issues sorted.
These are people just like you who have bared all, sifted through all heir baggage, and come up trumps to what seems like huge challenges.
Fast-track your own learning and development by learning from people just like you who have been there too.
Ok, now go and check it out and get your own copy before the launch special ends:

Drum roll please...I've been published!

Dear readers, friends, and websurfers,
It is with delirious excitement that I announce:
I have been published!
In a real, hold in your hand, book! Yes sirree! It's a wonderful book - a spiritual uplifter - good vibes all around.
In it I share my journey with cancer.
Have a look and get it at Amazon here.
Here's the book description:
Messages in a bottle are sent for one of three reasons: you are in need of help, you are responding to a request for help, or you just want to connect with new people. In a way, this series of "messages" meets all three of those criteria. We live in a time and a world of uncertainty. Our entire reality is shifting as environmental, spiritual, political, social and economic institutions are breaking apart and transforming. People are searching for new answers since the old answers no longer seem valid.
MESSAGES II continues to bring humanity rays of light and hope. Author Ed Rychkun addresses financial and complete body, mind and spirit connections. Linda Walker shows the spiritual side of weight reduction and how your mind set creates your appearance. Ken MacLean talks about the "Big Picture," the vibrational Universe and "life solutions. Linda Saper-Bloom takes you down the path of alternative healing. Zoƫ Routh discusses how she won her battle with cancer using spiritual laws. These 'messengers' also discuss the law of attraction and the use of basic spiritual principles to create your own reality
Yours in a massively uplifted state grinning ear to ear,Zoe

Yummy goodie to end the year right
However, Suzanne the Connexion Specialist, wasn't taking my polite fob off lying down. I said I did not like to promote anything unless I'd read it first. So she sent me a copy - by courier all the way to Australia - so I could take a look at this book she was raving on about.
It sat on my shelf for a few days and then I started reading it. And kept reading it. So far - it's amazing. Really! It's a spiritual cum Law of Attraction business prosperity book that is right up my alley, except for the almost-religious bits. Though this part is light on, and he makes a clear statement for spirituality rather than religion per se.
I am sure you will enjoy this book.
Then she sent me the promo text too with all the now-customary bonuses. Here are the goodies:
With the purchase of Steve’s new book The Prosperity Paradigm, you will receive the entire Enlightened Entrepreneur Coaching Program worth $4997.00 through the end of December.
This includes:
How to Discover Your “Soul Purpose”
How to be More Productive
How to Experience Greater Health & Happiness
How to Become Truly Wealthy
How to Harmonize Spiritual with Material Wealth
How to Create Permanent Wealth
Hmmm...Looks like I'll have to buy another copy just so that I can get the bonuses too.

Good reads - quantum physics and law of attraction

This is a cool book by Lynne McTaggart, author of The Field. In both books McTaggart outlines a series of very cool ultra-scientific research projects on the power of intention and its effect on various things like affecting machine processes, results of tests, and influencing healing. The experiments themselves are quite constrained -limited so as to pass intensive scientific scrutiny.
The best part of the book comes at the end when she gives the hints for focused intention: get in the right vibe through meditation and other Alpha-state promoting methods, be clear and specific with your intention, experience it as sully achieved already, let go of needing to produce a result, and oh yeah - you have to believe it works.
These lats two points are glossed over in the book - how do you get belief in a process that challenges all conventional thinking? No help here from McTaggart. How do you let go of the intended result? Not much help here either, except to iterate that we are not the creators of any outcome, only channelers of intention energy. Much more could be added to the book to address these two issues - indeed, they are fundamental hot topics in most Law of Attraction literature.
The other ground-breaking aspect of the book is that it likens you up with an entire community at the http://www.theintentionexperiment.com. Here you can become a member, discussion manifestation and intention experiments and hang out with other like-minded folks. very cool. You can also get notification of any upcoming global intention experiments that McTaggart is hosting.
The implications and possibilities are exciting.
Should you get it? Yup - it's a top shelf kind of book.
I'd love to hear your comments if you've read the book, or have had any cool intention experiment results of your own.

Attention coaches who want to make millions

Some coaches are making millions. Are you one of them?
Chances are that if you are a coach like me, you've been working with clients one-on-one for some time. Maybe you've done some group coaching, the occasional workshop or seminar, and even published an ebook. (I've got two! Absolute Productivity and Maximise Your Money Mojo)
Whatever your model and experience is, it won't have taken long to figure out that you are completely limiting your income and the amount of people you serve with a one-to-one coaching model.
That bums me out. All the great work I do as a coach, that you do as a coach, and we can only reach so many people. There must be a better way!
And there is.
After reading Tim Ferriss's the Four Hour Work Week, I picked up Milana Leshinsky's Coaching Millions. With these two books, I have been absolutely on-fire! My mind is racing with ideas, I'm alive and excited with the possibilities of taking my twenty years of personal development experience and knowledge to a much greater audience.
What I love about both these books is that it is a practical how-to guide, with all the resources lain out like stepping stones.
You can make more moolah too.
Brian Tracy called Coaching Millions "the best single book ever written on how to be successful in coaching". Big call. The book deserves it though.
My copy is already dog eared and I have just put together my new business model. I swear I am on fire after reading this! I am already getting stuck in to my plan and I can feel the certainty of success flowing to me. Very cool.
I know you will get heaps of value from this. Once you've read it, drop me a line and let me know what you thought.
Here's where to get the book and all the bonuses: http://coachingBestSeller.com

What would you do with an extra 36 hours per week?

Timothy Ferriss's book, The 4 Hour Work Week is one of the most refreshing takes on lifestyle design I have read in ages. Thanks to Drew for recommending it. Ed over at Evolving Times has issued a challenge to get the imagination all fired up and share what YOU would do, should you re-craft your life to 'work' only 4 hours per week, and play the rest of the time. Want to check out the challenge, go here.
In the meantime, here are some more musings on how I would improve my already excellent lifestyle.
Take off the to Great White North and do that canoe trip I've been lusting after for years. I led canoe trips for five years at Camp Stephens before managing the program for a couple of more years. Tripping is in my blood. Massive disappointment for me to learn Australia is such an arid country that canoeing really involves dragging your boat through a lot of rock boulders. Luckily, there is one massive coastline that is good for sea kayaking.
Canoeing on freshwater is still my top adventure. My friend Jay sent me photos from his awesome trip on the Stikine in British Columbia. Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!
Become an organic gardening queen. This winter's crops look pretty sad and wilty. I fancy myself a green thumb, but really I'm more like a muddy boot stomping recklessly. I lack knowledge and skill when it comes to nurturing plants. A few more hours per week would have me visiting other gardeners, reading more, and visiting the plant nursery more.
Fine-tune my photography. I love the world through a camera lens. Thanks to hubby, I now have an awesome digital SLR with some funky lenses. My results are limited again by know-how, not enthusiasm! A couple of photography courses and hanging out with other photographers would be excellent.
Learn some gourmet cooking. I love food. Delicious, wild flavours and plenty of chocolate feature on my ideal menu. My brother's a chef, and a pretty darn good one too, but somehow I have managed to miss out on culinary finesse. Again, some good mentoring could fix all that.
Other really cool stuff:
- Yoga
- Pilates
- Belly dancing (I'll need to dust off my costumes and get the hips shimmying again)
- Study more about history of the English monarchy (I was originally born in England and have maintained a bit of nostalgia for the homeland)
- Publish a book (I'm scratching away at it now!)
- See more concerts and plays
- Bushwalking - get me out on in the woods any day
- Go to a live talk show: Oprah or Rove or Thank God You're Here
- Visit my buddies in Sydney, Melbourne, Bathurst, Brisbane. Just a short road trip away.
- Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef
- Sea Kayaking at Ningaloo Reef. Spectacular!
- Indulge at a health spa in Bali. Daily massage anyone?
And of course...
Lounge at the beach. Nothing is better than looking at the ocean. Except for maybe being out on it in a luxury yacht, or in it on my boogie board.

You know what he most amazing thing is about doing a list like this? It's all completely achievable. It's all a matter of jumping in the current and seeing where it leads you. Sure beats sitting on the shore wondering!
What about you??? Take the first plunge and write us a comment. It's amazing how real it feels when you put fingers to keyboard...
Now this is the first time I've participated in a blogging tag. From what I understand, it's about inviting other bloggers to join in and blog on the same topic. Here's Ed post on the 'rules'.

Simple-ology: cool personal development stuff
Mark Joyner has a massive presence as internet guru, marketing guru, and has also created a very simple straightforward personal development course (which is why it is called simple-ology). I have just ordered the book from Amazon and am very excited to get the book.
Not only that, there are just a massive ton of bonuses you get free for ordering the book - many of these are shipped to your door as they are tangible bonuses - CDs, reports etc, on personal development and marketing. Very cool. There are also some surprise eletronic bonuses too. Also very cool.
If you are going to order the book, please note that the system is a little slow because there has been such a huge take up of the offer. Over 50 000 people downloaded the sample chapter when he released that last month. Be persistent - it will be worth it for sure.
To get your copy, go here: http://innercomp.simpleology.com/book/
What clinched it for me was that Joe Vitale, who appears in the Secret and has written a zillion books including the Attractor Factor, has also given it a massive endorsement and thumbs up and also claims Mark Joyner as a close personal friend and someone he admires and respects greatly. I have a huge amount of respect for Joe Vitale, so this endorsement definitely was a winner.
Enjoy!
